Narcity Media, one of the fastest-growing digital media publishers for millennials in North America, has launched Viafoura’s suite of digital engagement experiences, including Conversations, Live Blogs and Community Chat, across its owned and operated properties. Narcity Media specializes in urban news and travel, and chose Viafoura’s digital experience platform to create more engaging conversations around its branded content, increase user registrations and conversions, reduce the time spent by editorial teams on comment moderation, host real-time events with live blogs, and pave the way for more revenue opportunities.
“We were impressed by the examples of media organizations like The Independent and the Montreal Gazette, who have benefited from implementing Viafoura, and were impressed by the proposal and presentation in terms of how Viafoura could work with the Narcity brand,” says Narcity Media CEO Chuck Lapointe. “The Viafoura team has been extremely responsive and supportive throughout the onboarding process.”
Prior to adopting Viafoura’s digital experience platform, Narcity Media was looking for ways to increase engagement on-site, create opportunities for its editorial staff to interact with its audience, and moderate comments to make sure they met community standards.

With Viafoura’s Conversations, Live Blogs and Community Chat solutions, Lapointe wants to enhance Narcity Media’s user experience by ensuring that all discussions and debates around stories are healthy and thoughtful. He expects this will also make it easier and more efficient for editorial teams to engage with their readers like never before and take part in the conversations happening around their content.
Comments will combine automated and human moderation to produce the best results, and Narcity Media users will also be able to follow specific topics and authors, while the company taps into rich audience insights from registered community members.
Narcity Media will be able to analyze the first-party data gathered by Viafoura’s solutions, and gain a better understanding of its audience. This will help inform content strategies and ensure that readers are consuming the stories they want to see.
“We’re thrilled to have yet another leading Canadian media company implement Viafoura’s digital experience platform to build and nurture a positive and engaged community,” said Mark Zohar, president and COO of Viafoura. “We’re excited to help them leverage first-party data to drive greater personalization and generate deeper audience insights.”
