September 2026
The September release brings quizzes, new follow and notification features, expanded email notification controls, and new webhook events for polls and Live Q&A.
Also launching this month are steadier moderation console sessions, a wave of fixes across comments and conversations, and interactive polls in the iOS and Android SDKs.
Enhancements
Live Q&A
New: Readers can follow an upcoming or live Q&A event.
New: Hosts receive notifications about activity in their Live Q&A, delivered through the notification tray.
New: Publishers can choose whether the host section appears in a Live Q&A.
New: Publishers can now choose whether audience members can remove their own questions and replies, whether they can edit them, and how long they have to make an edit (from 30 seconds to no limit; 2 minutes by default). Once a host replies to or answers a post, its author can no longer edit or remove it. Hosts, moderators, and admins aren’t affected.
Polls & Engagement
New: Publishers can now build quizzes in Polls, where readers answer questions and see how they did. Quizzes become available once they’re enabled for your site.
New: Quiz answers can include an explanation, so readers understand why a response is right.
Improved: If a reader taps a poll option before logging in, their selection is now preserved and counted once they sign in or sign up.
Improved: The borders, option buttons, and labels for polls and quizzes have been refined.
Comments & Conversations
New: The activity feed on a reader’s profile now shows their complete post history, rather than a partial view.
New: Readers on mobile web now have a clear way to cancel or close the comment composer.
Improved: Contributions are now consistently referred to as “posts” across the conversation.
Improved: Text fields show a clearer focus state, making it easier to see where you’re typing.
Notifications & Email
New: Following and email notifications are now separate settings. Publishers can turn following on or off without affecting email notifications. A new “Allow following/followers” setting shows or hides all follow features, and the email notification settings have clearer names.
APIs & Webhooks
New: When a reader votes in a poll, a new webhook event fires so your systems can respond to engagement.
New: The webhook service now emits Live Q&A events, so you can track Q&A activity in your own systems.
Improved: Poll webhook payloads now carry quiz information alongside the poll data.
Mobile SDKs
New
- Readers can vote in polls right in the app, and promotional placements can appear in the conversation starter. (iOS 1.3.10, Android 2.1.14)
- If a signed-out reader votes in a poll, their choice is held and cast automatically once they log in, and closed polls show a “View results” link. (iOS 1.3.10)
- Readers can attach larger images (up to 20 MB), and editing a comment keeps its image description intact. (iOS 1.3.10)
- Polls in the conversation starter show results inline, and publishers can create polls with fully anonymous voting. (Android 2.1.14)
Improved
- Apps can now show whether a reader is subscribed to a topic’s notifications. (iOS 1.3.7, Android 2.1.11)
- Topic subscriptions register more reliably, and the post button displays properly on edge-to-edge screens. (Android 2.1.11)
Fixes
Moderation
Fixed: The console’s quick search no longer surfaces content from other sites when a site filter is applied.
Fixed: Resolved an issue where moving through several sites in a row could sign a moderator out of the console.
Comments & Conversations
Fixed: Readers can no longer mute community moderators, admins, or global moderators. Muting remains a personal tool readers manage from the Community tab of their profile.
Fixed: Removed an empty “Show more replies” button that appeared when the only remaining replies were from muted users, so the control and reply count now match what’s there.
Fixed: Deactivated comments no longer accept new replies.
Fixed: The “Why?” note on a rejected comment is no longer hidden behind the widget’s sticky comments navigation.
Fixed: Resolved a scrolling “braking” effect in the conversation on iOS, so scrolling feels natural again.
Fixed: Corrected several French-language display issues in the unified tray.
Fixed: The tray no longer flashes on navigation, clips tooltips, or opens with a misaligned slide.
Fixed: Large values for the comment edit-window setting are now honored instead of being silently ignored.
Fixed: The summary readers see after requesting a data deletion now shows proper wording instead of a “translation not found” placeholder.
Mobile SDKs
Fixed
- Loading more replies no longer re-requests replies already on screen. (iOS 1.3.6, Android 2.1.10)
- Tapping the author of a hidden or removed comment no longer opens a profile. (iOS 1.3.6)
- A linked comment’s highlight now times correctly and holds as readers scroll, and the Danish language setting displays Danish instead of French. (iOS 1.3.9)
- Custom comment text styling stays applied after a reader expands a truncated “see more” comment. (iOS 1.3.8)
- Editing a comment while signed out now applies once the reader signs in, and “See more comments” is more reliable. (Android 2.1.13)
